How it works
The Elder Futhark is the oldest runic alphabet: 24 runes carved into stone, bone and metal across northern Europe from roughly 150 to 800 CE, centuries before the Vikings.
An honest word first: there is no historically correct runic spelling of a modern English name, because the runes wrote a different language. What we use is the standard letter-for-letter convention, the same one museum charts use, with one nice touch: the sounds th, ng and ei get the single runes that really wrote them.
Every rune also had a name and a meaning: Fehu was cattle and wealth, Sowilo the sun. The breakdown below reads your name rune by rune.
