Your name in braille

How it works

Braille writes each letter as a cell of up to six raised dots, numbered 1 to 6. We use uncontracted (Grade 1) English braille, the letter-for-letter kind taught first, and we place the capital sign, a single dot 6, before each capital letter, exactly as a braille reader expects.

The system has a beautiful internal logic: the first ten letters use only the top four dots, and the next rows are built from them by adding lower dots. The breakdown below shows which dots make up each cell of your name.

One honest note: accented letters like é are shown as their plain English letters here. Real braille handles accents with their own indicator, which is a finer point than this letter map goes.
