How it works

This is FIGlet, the program that has been turning words into big text banners since 1991 - its name comes from Frank, Ian and Glenn, who drew the original letters. Each style is a hand-drawn font file where every character is built from ordinary keyboard symbols, and your name is assembled from them piece by piece, with the same letter-fitting rules the original program uses.

ASCII art lives wherever text is monospaced: Discord code blocks, terminals, README files, old-school forum signatures. If it looks scrambled after pasting, put it in a code block - the art depends on every character being the same width.

Accented letters fold to their plain English forms (José becomes Jose), and we say so under the result when it happens - the classic fonts only ever knew plain ASCII.
